ACL INSTITUTE A BIG SUCCESS: On Friday, June 3, 2016, ACL held its annual Institute at the San Francisco Public Library, chaired by President Meredith Steiner. The focus on race and ethnicity in children’s literature drew a large audience, with librarians flying in from Seattle and Southern California, as well as local librarians. New membership chair Katrina Bergin reported more than 30 new members signed up! Speakers included knowledgeable librarians and children’s authors, including Newbery Medalist Kwame Alexander.
