Preschool Storytime Ideas
Princess
Two ideas for popular culture-related storytimes are princesses and pirates. Many of our requests for princess books are related to the Disney princesses, but you can substitute fairytales and other satisfying princess stories for preschoolers. There are fewer pirate-themed picture books, but even kids who haven’t seen the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films will enjoy a pirate-themed storytime. You can also adapt the craft ideas to use with a 4th and 5th grade book discussion group, after reading a princess-themed book like ELLA ENCHANTED by Gail Carson Levine, or a pirate adventure like Karen Hesse’s STOWAWAY or TREASURE ISLAND by Robert Louis Stevenson.
