Robots Storytime – Revised
Robots are a fun way to include STEM in a storytime. For a craft project, make these simple paper robots: Printable Version (dltk-teach.com).
Dyckman, Ame. Boy + Bot. A boy and robot become friends and take care of each other.
Gauld, Tom. The Little Wooden Robot and the Log Princess. The robot prince goes in search of his princess sister, who is in the form of a log.
Kelly, John. Fixer the Robot. Fixer assists other machinery who are on the job.
Martin, Steven. How to Make a Friend. A girl makes a robot friend with instructions from a library book.
McCanna, Tim. Bitty Bot’s Big Beach Giveaway. In this rhyming story, Bitty Bot is not enjoying the beach, but loves to explore the sea using a submarine.
McGowan, James. Good Night, Oppy! Inspired by the Opportunity rover on Mars, this story celebrates the little robot and his exploration.
Miller, Kelly Leigh. Time to Recharge, Harper! In this allegory about naptime, a young robot doesn’t want to stop to recharge his battery.
Park, Linda Sue. Gurple and Preen: A Broken Crayon Cosmic Adventure. Two robots crash on an alien planet and must work together to rescue themselves.
Riddell, Chris. Wendel and the Robots. Wendel learns about recycling and takes back his workshop from a robot.
Schneider, Josh. Ultrabot’s First Playdate. Ultrabot and Becky (a girl) have their first playdate.
Twohy, Mike. Spacebot. A dog-shaped robot from space visits a dog and they become friends.
Underwood, Deborah. Jo Bright and the Seven Bots. In this take-off of Snow White, Jo and Henry the dragon defeat the queen with the help of seven robots.
Weeks, Sarah. Blippo and Bleep. Two robots learn to tell knock-knock jokes. The audience can call out “Knock Knock!” during the story.
Wiesner, David. Robobaby. Only little sister robot can take care of the robot family’s new baby.
