Faith Ringgold Dies at 93

Caldecott Honor Recipient Faith Ringgold Dies: Artist, quilter, civil rights activist, and author Faith Ringgold died at her home in New Jersey at age 93. Her first children’s book, Tar Beach (Crown, 1991), was based on one of her narrative quilts, and received a Caldecott Honor. In her most recent book, Harlem Renaissance Party, (Amistad, 2015), she introduced young readers to artists of the Harlem Renaissance movement of the 1920’s.
