Applications for the annual Dorothy Helfeld Fellowships are now available online at www.bayviews.org. Winners of the 2012/2013 fellowships will receive a free membership to the Association of Children’s Librarians of Northern California (ACL), along with a subscription to the group’s review journal, BayViews, and free admission to the annual Institute and Performers Showcase. Anyone who is seriously interested in exploring the profession of children’s librarian is invited to submit an application by June 5, 2012. Winners are expected to attend monthly meetings of the group in the East Bay and to review books and partake in the business of the organization to a reasonable extent.
Current ACL members – yes, it is open to those of you who are beginning your career, and those who may have applied before, and we also rely on current members to spread the word to those who might not yet know of ACL.
Applicants may include, but are not limited to:
++Anyone who is currently in library school or can demonstrate a serious interest in working with children in public or school libraries;
++ Librarians considering a change from adult to children’s work;
++ Para-professionals working in school or public libraries;
++ College students who are considering library work with children.
Students considering or embarking on their studies in children’s librarianship will find an encouraging and challenging community of like-minded individuals.
