Robert San Souci Dies: Noted folklorist and children’s author Robert San Souci died on Dec. 19, 2014 after a fall and head injury. This Bay Area author often collaborated with his brother Daniel San Souci, who would illustrate Robert’s books. Born in San Francisco, the San Souci brothers grew up in Berkeley. Robert San Souci wrote the screenplay for Disney’s “Mulan,” as well as the series “Short & Shivery,” which are collections of ghost and scary stories. He also wrote several folktale adaptations of “Cinderella” stories from various cultures, including Little Gold Star (Harper, 2000) and Cendrillon (S&S, 1998).
