Amy Cheney Receives Zoia Horn Intellectual Freedom Award from Calif. Library Association – Amy Cheney, librarian with Oakland Unified, was named the recipient of the Zoia Horn Intellectual Freedom Award, given by the California Library Association. She helped establish the Library Services for Youth in Custody national organization, and the Margins book list and award, celebrating diversity. She also established the first college studies program in the U.S. for students incarcerated in juvenile hall. Matthew Lorenzo Receives Young Adult Services Award – Co-sponsored by the California Library Association and the Bay Area Young Adult Librarians (BAYA), the Young Adult Services Award named Matthew Lorenzo its latest recipient. Lorenzo is the teen services librarian at the Cupertino Library, where he established the Green Teen Garden Project.
