The American Library Association announced the Youth Media Awards today, at the Midwinter Conference in Seattle, WA. The Newbery Medal winner is Meg Medina for Merci Suarez Changes Gears, published by Candlewick. The Caldecott Medal winner is Sophie Blackall for illustrating Hello Lighthouse (which she also wrote), published by Little, Brown.
