For songs, you can substitute Llama in the classic “B-I-N-G-O,” or Llama for Monkey in “Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed.”
Buxton, Jane B. THE LITTLEST LLAMA. Set in the Andes Mountains, little llama cannot find someone to play with because all his relatives are busy. Good for depicting a llama’s natural habitat.
DeRubertis, Barbara. LANA LLAMA’S LITTLE LAMB. Lana Llama tries to protect Lucky Lamb from a sneaky wolf.
Dewdney, Anna. LLAMA LLAMA RED PAJAMA. The first of the amusing rhyming Llama stories – in this one, he won’t fall asleep. Another good one is Llama Llama Mad at Mama, about a trip to the store where Llama throws a tantrum.
Guarino, Deborah. IS YOUR MAMA A LLAMA? Children can guess the animal in this rhyming tale of mothers.
Horowitz, Dave. CHICO THE BRAVE. A shy chick in Peru searches for his superhero Golden Chicken, to help him fight off the Llama Gang.
Raffi. DOWN BY THE BAY. The picture book version of the popular song; one stanza features a llama.
